Search and Rescue (SAR) Training Overview

Courses dealing with the coordination of SAR (Search and Rescue) operations take place in the simulator and have been developed as the result of a long-time collaboration between Aboa Mare and the Finnish Coast Guard.

The SAR course considers the IAMSAR Manual and thus focuses on search techniques. The course concentrates on practical exercises on sea areas and in the fairway which constitute the routes used by shipping companies participating on the course.

4-day course that gives course participants an introduction to Maritime Search and Rescue and trains the functions and tasks of an OSC (On-Scene Coordinator) in specific.

The OSC course (On-Scene Coordinator) gives the participant the skills needed when functioning as an On-Scene Coordinator. The course concentrates on practical exercises and incorporates visits to Maritime Rescue Coordinator Center, Maritime rescue vessels and the helicopter division. The exercises and content of the course can be customised according to the client’s needs.
