Novia UAS runs a Smart Shipping research platform with Fraunhofer at Aboa Mare. Fraunhofer Innovation Platform for Smart Shipping @Novia (FIP-S2) brings an internationally unique set of services available to the maritime industry in Finland and in Northern Europe. Read more ⟩

The main FIP-S2@Novia platform operator at Fraunhofer is the Institute of Fraunhofer Center for Maritime Logistics and Services CML in Hamburg. The Institute develops innovative solutions for the maritime sector and the maritime supply chain. Read more ⟩

FIP-S2@Novia is an applied research platform, which develops, and tests customised and intelligent solutions for the needs of the maritime industry. We offer cost-efficient and high-quality R&D services with strong expertise in smart shipping, maritime operations and maritime simulations. We are also building up a broad testing architecture of maritime digital twins and interfaces. TechCampus Turku and City of Turku are collaboration partners in FIP-S2@Novia.

GigaMare Inc.

Shipping companies have the possibility to train crew at Aboa Mare, Finland and at GigaMare, Philippines. This gives our customers the flexibility to train their crew in accordance with the same standard in Europe as well as in Asia. Aboa Mare courses at GigaMare lead to Finnish course certificates in accordance with Aboa Mare quality procedures.

Aboa Mare and GigaMare cooperate on online material, 3-D ship models and animations for on-site and online courses.

GMC Maritime Training Center

Through a cooperation with GMC Maritime Training Center & Maritime Academy in Greece, we offer study programmes in English, leading to Finnish watchkeeping officer deck and engine certificates. The quality of the studies and student progress are managed by Aboa Mare’s quality system. The watchkeeping officer deck and engine programmes and facilities are audited by The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency, Traficom. Aboa Mare short courses can also be delivered at GMC training centers.
