Human factors testing and consultancy
In human factors testing, we evaluate how users interact with technology using task-based evaluations ranging from controlled lab studies to operational scenarios. We focus on how well the system supports decision-making, attention, workload management, situational understanding, and coordination. We can also evaluate the visual ergonomics of the interface. In addition to testing, we offer consultancy services that provide human factors requirements, background studies, and expert evaluations of user interfaces, systems, or processes.
Results are delivered as quantitative and qualitative reports, requirements and recommendations for design, training, and SOPs. We can also conduct detailed eye-tracking studies showing user interaction with millisecond accuracy.
Task analysis
Task analysis breaks down complex activities into smaller tasks to understand how users perform them. This reveals how work actually happens, so your solution fits the task, crew, and context. Analysis can be done as a field study or in simulator environments. We can add eye tracking, communication and behaviour analysis, and sociotechnical systems analysis. By examining detailed steps, goals, decisions, information needs, and interactions, the analysis gives designers clear insights into user decision making and workflow.
Results are delivered as task models, situational awareness requirements, communication maps, optional gaze heatmaps, and a prioritized set of requirements and recommendations for design, training, and SOPs.
User-centered design
We deliver user-centered design across the whole cycle: understanding users and context, defining requirements, designing the UI and interactions, prototyping, and evaluating usability. You can engage us for the full cycle or for a specific part, such as usability testing of an existing system or defining user requirements.
Results are delivered as user and task requirements, wireframes or prototypes with design rationale, usability findings, and recommendations for implementation.
