If your certificate of competency has expired, Aboa Mare arranges training to support the revalidation of certificates of competency to deck/engine officers.
If the certificate is still valid, you need relevant seagoing experience in addition to copies of personal documents. Please check Traficom´s homepage for the latest requirements.
A certificate of competency issued by a competent authority in the European Economic Area (EEA) to a citizen of the EEA in accordance with the STCW Convention must be recognised. The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom) will issue an endorsement of recognition of the certificate of competency to an applicant on written application. Aboa Mare offers the applicants opportunity to prove their knowledge of Finnish legislation related to seafaring at the management level (master, chief officer, chief engineer officer and first engineer officer).
