Network with Maritime Professionals at the Maritime Fair 2024 in Turku, Finland

Welcome to the Maritime Fair 2024, held on 24-25 October, at Aboa Mare in Turku, Finland. The event brings together maritime professionals, seafarers, shipping companies, authorities, maritime instructors, and students. We invite all those interested in the shipping industry to attend, meet exhibitors, and listen to discussions on current topics during the conference. The fair is organized by Aboa Mare in cooperation with the alumni association Ånikap.

Meet Industry Leaders at the Fair

The fair focuses on recruitment and sustainability, bringing together more than 50 exhibitors, including several manufacturers and the majority of Finnish shipping companies. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet industry leaders and discover business and collaboration opportunities. As many exhibitors will be represented by HR or crewing personnel, maritime students will have an excellent opportunity to explore career opportunities with potential employers.

There will also be a demonstration on how e-Navigation solutions and digital platforms can enhance daily operations both on board and ashore. Visitors can take guided tours of Aboa Mare’s simulator department and experience the latest in maritime simulation, including the simulator bridge for Icon of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship. The simulator played an essential role in training the crew prior to the ship’s delivery and maiden voyage.

Hear Presentations on Maritime Industry Innovations and Career Opportunities at the Conference

A conference will be held in parallel with the fair on Thursday, 24 October. One of the interesting topics of the conference is a panel discussion on the Finnish shipping sector’s preparedness for the IMO greenhouse gas emission reduction strategy. Presentations will also be held on current topics such as decarbonisation of global supply chains, designing for shared situational awareness in remote pilotage operations, finding maritime jobs in Finland, and how maritime simulation technology can contribute to cost savings through virtual commissioning in shipbuilding.

Supporting Mercy Ships' Life-Saving Work in Developing Countries

We are pleased to announce that one of the participating organizations is Mercy Ships. Meet Stefan Sonesson National Director of Mercy Ships Sweden, at the conference, where he will share insights from their mission aboard the world’s largest civilian hospital ship, which operates in Sierra Leone and Madagascar. Mercy Ships provides life-saving surgeries and medical care in countries with limited access to healthcare, relying heavily on volunteers. We are proud to announce that 10% of the proceeds from the Maritime Fair 2024 are donated to their life-changing work.
