At Aboa Mare, we provide advanced training using Kongsberg Maritime K-Sim® Engine Room Desktop Simulators, enabling marine engineers, cadets, and engine department personnel to develop operational, technical, and decision-making skills in a realistic virtual environment.
Our simulator systems replicate modern ship machinery operations and allow participants to gain practical experience in normal, abnormal, and emergency situations without risk to personnel, vessels, or the environment.
The K-Sim® platform provides realistic simulation of a wide range of vessel types and propulsion technologies, supporting both traditional and future-oriented maritime operations. Through interactive desktop workstations, trainees can operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize complete machinery plants while developing technical competence and Engine Resource Management (ERM) skills.
The Kongsberg Maritime K-Sim® Engine Room training facility at Aboa Mare consists of one dedicated instructor workstation and twelve student workstations, providing a highly interactive and collaborative learning environment.
Each workstation is equipped with three individual displays, allowing participants to simultaneously monitor machinery systems, automation interfaces, control panels, process diagrams, and alarm management systems in a realistic operational setup.
To support effective instruction, briefing, and debriefing sessions, the simulator classroom is also equipped with three 65-inch presentation screens. These large displays enable instructors to demonstrate system operations, review training exercises, analyze performance, and facilitate group discussions before and after simulator sessions.
This configuration supports both individual and team-based training, allowing instructors to monitor trainee performance in real time while providing a flexible platform for technical instruction, Engine Resource Management (ERM), and competency-based assessment.
