Combination of classroom-based theoretical lessons and practical exercises using VTS-simulator.
Upon completing this training,
the participant will
- Understand and apply national and international regulations affecting vessel traffic services
- Demonstrate proficiency in radio communication using SMCP (Standard Marine Communication Phrases)
- Analyse and enhance the safety and efficiency of maritime traffic
- Be prepared for the On the Job Training (OJT)
- Extensive experience in delivering VTS training since 2005
- Provision of VTS training for the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) SAFEMED projects since 2015
- Training of the majority of Finnish VTS personnel operating in challenging archipelago and complex fairway environments
- As an active IALA member, Aboa Mare regularly participates in IALA VTS Committee meetings, staying up to date with the latest changes and upcoming projects in the global VTS community

Assessment | Knowledge, competences and skills are assessed through a written exam and through the simulator exercises. |
Certification | Participants successfully completing the course will be issued a course certificate. |
