Senior Lecturer in Mechanics

The Faculty of Technology and Seafaring at Novia University of Applied Sciences is now looking for a Senior Lecturer in Mechanics (incl. engineering studies such as mathematics) to campus Aboa Mare.

What you´ll be doing:

Your tasks include teaching future sea captains and engineering students, supervising study projects and thesis work, and developing teaching and training methods taking into account developments in working life. If you are interested, you can participate in course activities for working life as well as research, development and innovation projects.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

It is beneficial for your work if you have a background in maritime or marine industry combined with technical studies. You possess broad knowledge and practical experience in mathematics and physics. You are prepared to adopt and develop new working methods.

We´re looking for you who have:

  • an appropriate doctorate as a postgraduate degree or master´s degree in shipbuilding, mechanical engineering or energy technology
  • strong knowledge in physics, such as strength of materials and thermodynamics
  • broad expertise in technical mathematics
  • good language skills in English, Swedish and Finnish
  • the will to cooperate as well as the ability to work independently

As a teacher at Novia UAS, you are expected to have at least three years of work experience in tasks corresponding to degree.

Teachers at Novia UAS are expected to have completed pedagogical studies comprising 60 credits or 35 study weeks. If you have not completed pedagogical studies, you will be able to conduct them alongside the work within three years of employment.

Salary according to Collective agreement for Universities of Applied Sciences and internal directives. The position includes a probationary period of six months.
