Aboa Mare offers comprehensive Basic level and Advanced level training in accordance with the Polar Code and IMO model courses. The basic level and advanced level courses are three – day courses delivered on–site in Turku, Finland. In addition, Aboa Mare offers a combined Basic-Advanced level course of five-day duration.
On request, the training can be delivered as partly web-based training, with the required simulator exercises delivered on-site in Turku or at our partner training premises GMC Maritime Training Center, in Piraeus, Greece. The IMO International Code for Ships Operating in Polar Waters (Polar Code) entered into force on January 1st, 2017. The Polar Code addresses ship design, construction and equipment, operational and training concerns, search and rescue and the protection of the unique environment of the polar regions. (imo.org). The IMO Polar Code will be STCW mandatory as of 1 July 2018.
